Hope you're enjoying your holidays so far...just try and make the most of them okay.
Just want to remind you guys about some things to do before we see each other again on 16 June:
- Send your gown for dry cleaning, MUST get it back before the next practice on 16th. If you don't, you will be fined $4 I think. Not sure. I think I got fined $4 the last time. :) Don't be like me ok..? You will have to pay for the dry cleaning yourself...
- Before taking the gown back next practice (YOU MUST), make sure, performers: 1. Paper tag with the size and number of the gown is handed in together with the gown, or you'll be fined $5.
2. Hanger's there...
3. Gown cover is there...
4. Of course, the GOWN'S there. And in good condition. And dry cleaned. Ha.
5. And make sure the two plastic pegs that were clipped onto the gown cover are handed in together as well.
6. Please bring $5 to pay for the organza rose choker issued to us on the day of the concert. We have to buy it. And KEEP IT, for the next concert.
IF you do not do even one of these things...well, I don't actually know what will happen to you. But I know it won't be pretty. Lol kidding...just be sure to do all the things, all right?
Have a good holiday, rest your voice, do not damage it or do or eat things that will injure your throat or vocal cords. See you on the 16th, our next big thing will probably the Speech Day performance which we will be spending LOADS of time preparing for (be mentally prepared), and of course, the Sec 4s' & Conductors' farewell on the 19th. PLEASE turn up for both practices during the last week of the hols, don't skip on purpose, because quite frankly, some of you have not been showing up often enough - the teachers and your seniors notice, you know, and really, your attendance precentage is really 'dangerous' ie. QUITE far from 75%. Meaning if you keep up with this kind of level of commitment, you will not get CCA points for participation and a lot of other dire consequences will follow. I'm sure you know what I mean...
Don't fret, just get used to the hectic secondary school life of balancing your academic work with CCA (and of course your personal life - you still can have one, you know!). Both are really hard work and require a lot of commitment, but that's exactly the kind of person secondary school life is supposed to nurture you to become after 4 years of it - committed and responsible, and capable. What doesn't kill you only only makes you stronger (Yes, make sure you don't die from depression or anything along the way.) :) Grit your teeth, bear with it and work really hard, ok?
Actually, I'm quite proud of the Sec Ones for their hard, hard work and efforts put in for Happening Happenings. It's really quite impressive that most of you performed for an actual concert so early in the year, at least relatively. Last year, the first actual concert the Sec Ones performed for was in December. And the best thing is, most of you were at least adequately prepared and knew the songs pretty well. I would consider it quite a feat for a junior who's been in Choir for less than 6 months. In May last year, most of my friends and I were still quite lost and were helpless juniors, haha. Seriously. I think you all deserve some credit, I've seen you guys working hard and coming for practices pretty regularly, for most. And being quite obedient, attentive and respectful, though you can definitely be more responsive - please don't make me feel like I'm talking to a wall in future sectionals, respond people RESPOND! - so, PLEASE keep up the super good work and commitment. Don't ever slacken. I hope to see you all working just as hard/harder for Choir in future projects, and of course improving, together, as choral singers. I believe you can do it!!
